About

Emgwen youth for change is a community based organization formed in 2009 in Emgwen constituency, Nandi central district to address the challenges facing the youth in Nandi county and promote the socio-economic development, civic engagement in the reform agenda, and conflict mitigation in the county.
It is a youth led organization managed by a management committee on behalf of the members.
It comprises of youth from different communities in Nandi county with a vision of uniting the communities and empowering the youth economically, politically and socially through civic education, conflict mitigation activities, resource mobilization and information transfer.

It major partners with whom it has formed a strong working relationship are:

(i)    Amkeni Wakenya-UNDP,
(ii)    USAID-Kenya,
(iii)    The Ministry of Youth Affairs of Kenya.

Area of Focus/Thematic Areas

The thematic areas of specialization of the CBO are,
(i)    Peace building among the communities focusing on the youths & grassroots leaders in Emgwen constituency.

(ii)    Youth empowerment through information, skills and resource mobilization for their livelihoods.

(iii)    Conducting civic education focusing on the Agenda four reforms and millennium Development goals to promote civic engagement and their implementation for socio-economic development and stability.

(i)    Civic education activities through public forums and the media.
(ii)    Training of community resource persons.
(iii)    Development and provision of civic education materials.
(iv)    Management of a resource centre.
(v)    Resource mobilization.
